The Transport Research Laboratory is celebrating gaining the Investors in People silver accreditation for human resource management.
TRL, the Transport Research Laboratory, has been awarded the Investors in People (IIP) Silver accreditation for its commitment to staff investment and continuous improvement. The company is among just 6% of IIP accredited organisations to have achieved the Silver Standard, achieving a total of 139 IIP framework evidence requirements – 24 points above the required figure for Silver accreditation.
Investors in People is an internationally-recognised standard for business improvement through people management. Successful accreditation against the IIP Standard is the sign of a great employer, an outperforming place to work and a clear commitment to sustainability.
TRL has held IIP accreditation for 15 years, demonstrating the company’s commitment to excellence in people management and development. This is the first year that TRL has achieved the Silver accreditation, with the company praised for its culture of continuous learning and development, open door policy, people management and equal opportunities.
Commenting on the award, Naomi Barringer, HR Director at TRL said: “TRL is a knowledge-based organisation and our people are our lifeblood. We’ve worked extensively over the years to create a culture where employees feel empowered and engaged and are rewarded for what they do. This is reflected in our staff retention rate, with the average length of service within the company just under 10 years.”
“When you ask anyone what makes this company great the first reaction is always “the people and what we do”. We’re already firmly on the road to gaining Gold accreditation and with our focus on continuous improvement, I have no doubt that we’ll manage to achieve this within the next few years,” Barringer concludes.
Paul Devoy, Head of Investors in People added: “Achieving the Investors in People Silver standard is something that any organisation should be truly proud of. It is the sign of a company which is very committed to good people management practice and we’d like to congratulate TRL on its achievement.”
