Cenex is celebrating a decade of presenting the latest innovations from the UK in low carbon vehicles for sustainable mobility.

The UK Centre of Excellence for low carbon and fuel cell technologies (Cenex) is celebrating its 10th annual Low Carbon Vehicle (LCV) Event this year. LCV2017 is taking place 6–7 September 2017, at Millbrook in Bedfordshire, and set to attract more than 3,000 attendees. Registration for the two-day event is free of charge and more information including a link to the site can be found on our LCV2017 event page.

Since the inception of the LCV Event in 2008, Cenex has worked with government agencies and organisations to help make the LCV Event a technology showcase for UK capabilities in low carbon vehicles, and to advance the agenda-setting role of the event. Each year the event has grown, with more and more unveilings and launches taking place, solidifying the Cenex-LCV Event as the UK’s premier technology-showcasing and networking event for the UK and international low carbon vehicle community. With over 3,100 attendees, last year’s event, Cenex-LCV2016, achieved an impressive 245% total increase in visitor and exhibitor attendance compared to the very first event in 2008, which had 897 attendees. With a steady growth of attendees, exhibitors and vehicles on display, the Cenex-LCV Event has truly become the “must-attend” event for the low carbon vehicle community.

To celebrate this milestone anniversary, Cenex will be hosting an evening reception at the Cenex-LCV Event on 6 September. The evening will consist of keynote speeches, food and networking, as well as a live cartoonist who will capture and represent attendees’ views on the past, present and future of low carbon vehicle development and deployment.

There will also be a 10th anniversary showcase, developed in conjunction with Innovate UK. Revealing 10 projects from across the last 10 years of the LCV Event, the showcase will demonstrate key technology developments spanning the period.

Robert Evans, CEO of Cenex, said, “It is an honour to be hosting our 10th annual LCV Event this year. Reflecting on the past 10 years of the Event, it is evident how much the industry has grown in this time. Each event provides a snapshot capturing progress. Our event has witnessed the UK motor industry’s prioritisation of low carbon as a core innovation theme, as well as UK government’s commitment to low carbon, through a series of initiatives that have increased in scale and scope. It has seen the commercialisation of plug-in vehicles and the emergence of connected and autonomous vehicles as the next key innovation opportunity.

“Each year more physical technology has been displayed, and each year the seminar programme has helped showcase state-of-the-art developments, as well as addressing ‘what next?’ questions through presentations by industry experts. It’s quite astounding to see just how much the Cenex-LCV Event has grown over the years. With our highest exhibitor sign-up to date, record registration levels and more than 80 speakers lined up to support the seminar programme, I am confident that this will be the biggest and best LCV Event to date. We are looking forwarding to hosting our 10th Cenex-LCV Event, and have no doubt that it will be a great two days for all who attend!”
