Beekman Transport has equipped its European fleet of commercial vehicles with telematics systems for monitoring and fleet management.
Having explored options for improving its operational processes, Dutch logistics company, Beekman Transport, has now installed a Transics telematics system on all 70 commercial vehicles in its fleet which covers Europe.
The installed system comprises the TX-SKY on-board computer with direct connection to both the vehicle’s CAN bus and the tachograph. As well as monitoring all driver and vehicle information, the computer is able to interact with other equipment such as document scanners to provide a full fleet management service including the real-time exchange of operational information across the company’s own transport management system and the Transics cloud-based service platform.
This ability to integrate was a key element in the choice made by Beekman Transport, as explained by the company’s head of IT and Fleet Management, Martijn de Greef, “We are now able to ensure smooth processes via one single online platform and enhance the efficiency of both our fleet and our drivers.”
The company is also looking to the future and further integration with the provision of the TX-SMART driver app for improved monitoring and management of subcontractor operations and which also connects to the back office software.
Commenting on the move made by the Dutch company to use telematics, Transics’ Didier Nulens concluded, “As a logistics, warehousing and transport specialist, Beekman Transport is keen on ensuring that shipments all over the world are delivered to the right address just-in-time and our telematics system supports them in this task.”
