Nicomatic has released a range of surface mount test terminals that can be used to attach probes to test zones on PCBs.
The miniature C12000 series devices present a mechanical test hook interface on the SMD PCB which enables the operator to clip a probe from a test rig or oscilloscope to the PCB.
Measuring just 2.5 x 1.3 x 1.5mm, the devices can be used separately or in arrays. Despite the size, the C12000 test terminals have a large surface for efficient soldering. They are less prone to oxidation thanks to pure bright tin plating with a nickel under layer. Therefore, repeated testing can be performed, thanks to better material hardness
According to Phil McDavitt, General Manager of Nicomatic, the C12000 test terminals deliver substantial savings over traditional pins as no PCB piercing is required. Hole plating and secondary manual assembly operations are also eliminated. “Devices can be used with most test probes and can be used as Zero Resistance reference points,” he says.
The test terminals are available in standard industry tape and reel packaging for SOT08-05 parts. No special compartment is necessary on auto-place production equipment.
