Recognition for the safety features of the Volvo XC90 come from the Euro NCAP testing authority for its overall performance in crash testing.
Adding to safety awards already received by the latest generation of the popular XC90, Volvo received the 2015 Best in Class awards for both the “Large Off-Road” classification and the “Overall Performance” category.
Reflecting the innovative approach that Volvo Cars continues to take when developing new safety systems, the XC90 achieved overall top performance in the 2015 Euro NCAP ratings, scoring 100% in the Safety Assist category and an outstanding 97% in adult occupant protection, .
Commenting on the award from Euro NCAP, Volvo’s Jan Ivarsson said, “We are always happy to receive further recognition for the work we do. The XC90 embodies everything that Volvo Cars stands for, and this is further proof of our continuing leadership in the field of both active and passive safety systems. With the latest safety and semi-autonomous drive features in the XC90, we are well on our way to achieving our vision that by 2020 no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo car.”
The Euro NCAP award is the latest in a line of prestigious awards that the new car has collected in recent months, including the Motor Trend Car of the Year, North American Truck of the Year and the Auto Express Car of the Year amongst others.
