A range of explosion protected cameras has been developed for surveillance and monitoring in hazardous process industries.

R STAHL has extended its range of explosion-protected camera systems for hazardous gas and dust environments. The EC-940-PTZ series of explosion-proof Pan-Tilt-Zoom cameras provide high definition (HD) images for video surveillance and process monitoring, particularly for use in harsh environments where the presence of gases or flammable dust can create a potentially explosive atmosphere. Certified for use in Zone 1 and 2, Group IIC T6 (Gas) and in Zone 21 and 22, Group IIIC T85° (Dust), the cameras are ideal for a wide range of onshore and offshore applications, including oil and gas, marine, chemicals and pharmaceuticals.

The Full HD, 1080p, 60fps (frames per second) cameras feature a 30x optical zoom, which enables accurate identification of the smallest details within its field of vision, with the ability to transmit these images via Ethernet, H.264/AVC and MJPEG compression, with ONVIF Profile S compatibility, to other third-party products. Response to operator’s commands is instantaneous with fast, accurate detection of a target in all conditions, day or night.

The EC-940-PTZ camera unit has a robust, AISI 316L stainless steel construction with IP66 protection, ensuring reliable performance and extended operating life in temperatures from -40°C to +60°C. The camera also has a built-in wiper for the front glass, which is automatically actuated by movements of the camera, ensuring that images are always perfectly clear.

The ATEX/IECEx certified cameras are available as pre-wired options with armoured cable and barrier cable gland, simplifying installation. An analogue version of the EC-940-PTZ is also available.

R STAHL offers a comprehensive range of cameras and CCTV surveillance systems for hazardous areas. The range includes the world’s most compact (55mm diameter) Ex camera, the EC-710; the AFZ series of Full HD IP cameras with Autofocus Zoom; continuous pan and fast pan/tilt cameras; thermal imaging cameras for monitoring temperatures in hazardous areas and process environments; dome cameras; and a wide variety of camera accessories. Other products within the Group include Ex HMIs and panel PCs; Interface equipment for Intrinsically Safe applications; Ex D enclosures; Ex E terminal boxes; and almost all other electrical equipment for hazardous area applications.

R STAHL also offers its video management software, SeeTec Cayuga, which can be used in a wide variety of applications. This open software platform simplifies the installation of R. STAHL IP cameras, as well as enabling network cameras and video servers of almost all major manufacturers (ONVIF Profile S) and I/O modules, alarm triggers and video sensors to be operated inside one CCTV system.

With its comprehensive range of cameras and video management systems, R STAHL can develop complete CCTV system systems tailored to specific customer needs. The company’s OPEN CCTV SYSTEM methodology enables CCTV equipment from various manufacturers to be operated in one system, utilising various communication protocols. This means optimum CCTV solutions can be provided, either as new systems or additions to existing systems, for both hazardous and industrial environments, from video surveillance and leakage monitoring, through to external monitoring, flexible access from multiple points or redundant server structures.
