Australian helicopters convert to dry barrier filters

| Industrial Sector News

Commercial Helicopters of Australia has agreed to convert their fleet of Bell 206L and 407 Helicopters to PUREair Dry Barrier Filters from Pall Corporation. The deal was completed at HAI’s Heli-Expo in Orlando, FL. “We are excited to get our first set of PUREair Dry Barrier Filters installed in the next few weeks for immediate deployment to remote desert operations,” said Mike Watson, CEO of Commercial Helicopters. “We will now be able to operate in harsh conditions without having to plan for the cleaning and oiling supplies. This will greatly increase our mission availability during the deployment by allowing us to return the same filter to service quickly between flights.” The PUREair Dry Barrier Filter is designed as a direct fit replacement for oil-wetted filters and has been specifically designed using advanced synthetic dry media technology that virtually eliminates the maintenance associated with conventional oil-wetted barrier filters. The Pall Aerospace PUREair barrier filter is cleaned with water only and is ready for re-use within minutes. “The market reception of the PUREair Dry Barrier Filters has been tremendous at Heli-Expo,” noted Steve O’Connor, Vice President of Sales, Asia for Pall Aerospace. “Many operators are moving toward conversion to the Dry Barrier Filter technology. It’s encouraging to have progressive operators like Commercial Helicopters leading the way in adopting these new products.” Pall Aerospace and DART Aerospace are now offering newly certified PUREair products as well as others pending certification for direct fit replacement for competitor oil-wetted barrier filter products for the AS350 and Bell 206L/407.  Other products are planned and will be announced as the portfolio develops.
